What is a breast lift?
Mastopexy treats breast drooping (ptosis) without necessarily adding volume. Excess skin is removed, gland and areola are repositioned, and a higher, firmer contour is achieved. When volume is also desired, it is combined with an implant (augmentation mastopexy).
Technique and scars
The incision pattern (periareolar, vertical or "anchor") depends on the degree of drooping. The surgeon chooses the one that best balances result and scar, placed in discreet areas that mature over time.
Who is a good candidate?
Women with bothersome breast sagging, stable weight and adequate health. If pregnancies are planned soon, waiting is usually advised, as they can alter the result.
