What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is surgery that changes the shape or function of the nose. It can refine the bridge, tip or nostrils, or correct deviations that impair breathing (functional rhinoplasty). The goal is not a "catalogue" nose but one that harmonizes with each person’s own proportions.
Technique and planning
Depending on the case, a closed (internal incisions) or open (a discreet columellar incision) approach is used. The consultation assesses bone and cartilage structure, skin thickness and breathing to define a tailored surgical plan.
- Closed or open approach based on nasal structure
- Preservation or reconstruction of cartilage support
- Septal correction when breathing is obstructed
Who is a good candidate?
People with complete facial development (usually from age 16–18), in good health, non-smokers or willing to stop, with realistic expectations. Medical assessment defines suitability in each case.
Recovery · step by step
- Days 1–7Nasal splint and possible swelling or bruising around the eyes. Relative rest.
- Week 2Splint removal; social activity can resume, avoiding strain.
- Weeks 3–6Progressive light exercise as medically advised.
- Months 6–12Fine tip swelling subsides gradually toward the final result.
Frequently asked questions
Does rhinoplasty leave a visible scar?
In the closed approach incisions are internal. The open approach leaves a very discreet columellar scar that usually becomes almost imperceptible.
Is it painful?
It is generally described as discomfort and congestion rather than intense pain, managed with the surgeon’s instructions.
When will I see the final result?
The nose improves within the first weeks, but the definitive result can take 6–12 months to settle. Results may vary.
How much does rhinoplasty cost in Puebla?
Cost is defined at the consultation, as it depends on technique and whether functional correction is combined. A clear quote is provided in consultation.
