What does a tummy tuck resolve?
When abdominal skin stretches and the rectus muscles separate, exercise does not always correct it. Abdominoplasty removes excess skin, repositions the navel and sutures the muscle for a firmer, flatter abdomen.
Technique and variants
It may be full, or a mini-abdominoplasty if excess is only below the navel. It is often combined with flank liposuction (lipoabdominoplasty) to refine the waist. The scar is placed low, hidden by underwear.
Who is a good candidate?
People with excess skin or diastasis, stable weight and adequate health. Women are advised to have completed desired pregnancies. It is not a weight-loss method.
